A Life of Varied Roles and Adventurous Experiences

In my 30 years of existence, I've worked in numerous job roles: an operations manager, project manager, electrician (industrial, commercial, residential, HV, Solar), personal trainer, and small business owner. I've gathered a wealth of knowledge and experiences in these diverse fields. Throughout my life, I've been involved in and competed in a variety of different sports and hobbies, including: surf life saving, swimming, rugby, boxing , surfing , soccer, volley ball, basketball, running, hunting, spearfishing and more recently, Brazilian jiu jitsu. You name it, I've done it. I've travelled to different countries, 12 and counting, rode waves in 7 of them. I've hung out with all sorts of characters - some good and some not so good - and starred in probably the worst TV show in NZ history. All of these experiences have not only created value in my life, but given me perspectives on the world that you can only gain through experiences.

Health First, Work Later

I decided to call a halt on work for a few reasons. The first being that I was unhappy with my health and in particular, my weight. I was the heaviest I'd ever been - topping the scales at 115kgs! I found myself getting sick often and feeling lethargic all the time.

Secondly, I was no longer passionate about the career path I had chosen. I had been working in the electrical industry for 12 years, in different sectors and different roles. Don't get me wrong, it's a good trade. There are opportunities to earn good money in the industry, and you can create a great life with it, but it wasn't something that particularly sparked my interest (no pun intended). It felt like I was just going through the motions, and even though I'm the man at it, I don't want to be spending 40+ hours per week for the rest of my life doing something i'm not passionate about...even though it'll never be hard to find a decent paying job with a CV like mine! ;)

I do believe the stress of not doing something I truely wanted to be doing was subconsciously taking a toll on my health and weight. So, I saved enough money to quit my job, travel and get lean and healthy while I do it.

Travel Tales and Tips for the Adventurous Soul

Traveling has been a major catalyst for my personal growth and gaining perspective. I've explored some mean destinations, discovered mean as hidden gems, and encountered the meanest cultures along the way. In this blog, I'll provide practical tips, must-visit recommendations, and cautionary insights to help fellow travellers make the most of their journeys.
